Gilbert Arenas’ Twitter Gets Canceled After His Appalling Comments About Dark-Skinned Women
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas was dragged on Twitter today (April 14) after he made some insulting comments about dark-skinned women.
According to Bossip, Arenas was lurking on Pan-Africanist Rashidi Kweli’s Instagram page and saw what he posted about dark-skinned black girls. Kweli wrote, “Your African features are all you need for attractiveness. Never tell yourself or let anyone tell you that in order to be attractive you must be mixed.”
For some odd reason, Arenas felt the need to add his two cents and posted his thoughts on dark-skinned black women. “How dark are we talking,” Arenas reportedly wrote in the comments, which has since been deleted. “Can u name a beautiful black women [sic] on the outside...not brown skin...like Tyrese, black.”
He even made disparaging remarks about Lupita Nyong’o, saying that she is “only cute when the lights are off” and model Ajuma Nasenyana is “ewww.” Both of these women are dark skinned and quite honestly, very beautiful.
Arenas then named celebrities like Kesha Knight Pulliam, Gabrielle Union, Taral Hicks and Serena Williams and stated that they are the darkest of the top 50 most beautiful.
Is he for real?
Well, Black Twitter wasn't having it and quickly reminded Arenas that he's the father of two young girls who are darker than him. Then they dismantled his Twitter account with the most vicious slander you can imagine.
Arenas has since apologized for his comments, but they are still ethering him for good measure.
"Gilbert Arenas is talking all this bs on instagram while his daughters are literally two shades away from being Lupita's color," wrote one person. Another user tweeted, "Gilbert Arenas just added fuel to the fire with his half ass apology. Public school isn't to blame. You, and you alone are. Enjoy this L."
