Living in a society where social media is king, there are a lot of pressures and negative sides that come with it. Goapele is starring in an upcoming short film called #WhereIsBeauty, which dives into those pressures and self-esteem-deteriorating aspects that our society is obsessed with.

The film is about “an introspective visual artist dealing with the pressures of social media [who] embarks on a journey of self-discovery capturing everyday life through hashtags which unexpectedly transforms her perspective of beauty.” The singer-songwriter is the face of the film, which is set to premiere at the 25th anniversary of the 2017 Pan African Film Festival at the RAVE Cinemark Theatre in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza on Friday, February 10. Directed by both, Angela McCrae and written by April Mabry, the promotional video for the film shows a black and white-filtered movie, where Goapele can be seen getting ready for her day in her apartment, which also includes scrolling through her social media feeds.

Goapele is listed as an executive producer of the film as well. Watch the promo of the upcoming short film above.
