What Is Happening With Parking in Grand Rapids?

Starting on November 1st at 12:01 AM until April 1st at 11:59 PM, the seasonal parking rules are back in effect for many neighborhood streets.

For new residents, the seasonal parking rules are all about the odd/even parking days.

This restriction means that on any even-numbered days, you will be prohibited from parking on the odd-numbered side of the street from 1:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

It is vice-versa on odd days. For any odd-numbered days, you will be prohibited from parking on the even-numbered side of the street from 1:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

After 6:00 PM until 1:00 AM, all parking on either side of the street is allowed unless otherwise indicated.

Why are these seasonal parking restrictions going back into effect?

It is a way to help the city street sweepers and snowplows access the neighborhood and the streets to clear away tree debris, leaves, and snow as the fall season continues and the winter season approaches.

In a release, public works director, John Gorney shared the need for these parking restrictions.

"We need the community’s help as we work to clear streets of leaves and other tree debris that naturally fall into the road. Following the parking restrictions allows us to effectively clean the streets and ensures we don’t have flooded streets this winter due to clogged catch basins.”

Grand Rapids residents can request to review their street to see if the seasonal parking restrictions apply to their neighborhood.

If you need to report a seasonal parking violation, you can do that online. If you are caught violating the parking restrictions, it will cost you a $20 ticket.

This is What AI Think a Typical Day in Grand Rapids, Michigan Looks Like

I asked Canva's Magic Studio to help me out and show me what it thought a typical day in Grand RapidsMichigan looks like. It's... wild. And further shows that while AI can be useful, it's not as good as an actual, skilled human.
