Grand Rapids Public Museum Planetarium Reopens Saturday

As we start to embrace what our new normal is, social distancing, wearing face masks, and increased sanitation protocols, more stuff is starting to re-open.  The latest opening is the Chaffee Planetarium at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

Fox 17 says the planetarium will officially be re-open to the public starting Saturday, October 10th. As with everything, capacity will be limited, as well as other COVID-19 safety precautions being put into place. Also, while there will be multiple shows each day they're open, they will be taking extra time in between shows to do extra cleaning and sanitizing.

Stephanie Ogren, Grand Rapids Public Museum's VP of Science and Education told Fox 17,

The GRPM is pleased to announce the reopening of the Chaffee Planetarium. We have been working on a new show experience for our visitors, and look forward to sharing it with our audiences. “Incoming!” at the Chaffee Planetarium was developed in partnership with a NASA scientist and created for learners of all levels across the learning spectrum.”

"Incoming" is a new show that will be coming to the planetarium which Fox 17 says will feature comets, asteroids, and meteors.  It will join "One World, One Sky" which was showing before the GRPM planetarium had to close, and will return.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.  The Chaffee Planetarium does showings during that time, you should check out their website for more on the showtimes.  Also, the website for GRPM says that masks and advance ticket purchases required for admission into the museum.
