Is Grand Rapids One Of The Snowiest Cities in The US?
You are not wrong if you feel like Michigan has been extra cold and snowy this winter!
Michigan continues to hold its own when it comes to winter weather.
The 2024-2025 national ranking of the snowiest cities in the United States so far has been released with several Michigan cities leading the list.
According to the latest snowfall totals from Global Snowglobe, Grand Rapids currently ranks 5th in the country, with 62.1 inches of snow measured as of February 23rd, 2025.
That's already well ahead of last season's total at this time (40 inches). If you have been shoveling snow non-stop, you are not alone!
However, other Michigan cities also made the list:
- Flint sits at #11 with 38.1 inches of snowfall
- Ann Arbor sits at #12 with 37.6 inches recorded
- Lansing sits at #13 with 37.5 inches this season
Despite Michigan's solid snow showing, the snowiest city in the U.S. so far this season is Erie, Pennsylvania, leading the pack with a whopping 109.2 inches of snow.
Upstate New York cities like Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo are also piling up with snow.
Michigan may not top the national charts just yet, but with a few more solid snowstorms on the way, Grand Rapids and other cities could climb even higher.
Until then, keep those snow blowers and shovels handy - winter isn't over yet.
