What Is The Grand Rapids Turkey Trot?
Presented by Blue Care Network of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Turkey Trot is a 5k event that is in support of the students and student-athletes of Grand Rapids Public Schools.
"As Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS) celebrates its 30th anniversary of Turkey Trot, we reflect on the many wonderful programs and events that have been integral to making GRPS what it is today. This is the largest, family-friendly 5k event that directly benefits GRPS student-athletes."
GRPSF's official website says that,
"This annual event has become one of Michigan’s largest and best Thanksgiving Day experiences, with typical participation at approximately 4,300 runners."
As of the time of publication, Fox 17 shared that over 1,000 runners have registered for this year's upcoming Turkey Trot.
The goal for this year is to have 5,000 runners and walkers participate in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day!
How Can You Participate?
The 5K route will begin at the Van Andel Area, funneling through Grand Rapids before crossing the Grand River to return to the arena.
The whole family can join if you would like!
There is a free Mini Trot happening for kids 12 years old and under that starts at 8:10 AM, with the 5K Run/Walk starting at 8:30 AM.
If you register before the race day, the fee to participate is $35. However, if you register on race day, it will cost you $40.
