Donuts are Available Once Again at the Former Hilltop Bakery
It was a sad day for a lot of donut lovers in West Michigan when the Hilltop Bakery in Bailey closed their doors.
After being in business for 87 years, the bakery cooked their last batch of donuts and closed their doors on November 21st of 2021. (You can see the original post about the closing below.)
The bakery was originally opened in 1934. It was a favorite stop for people heading along M-37 in Muskegon County during the morning hours.
Good News -- Donuts are Available Again!
The R Farm Store has moved into the building at 1544 Newaygo Road (M-37) in Bailey that formerly was home to Hilltop Bakery. Their Facebook page says...
The farm store is owned by first generation farmers raising beef, pork and rabbit that is sold in the farm store. Baked goods available including Hilltop Bakery recipes. Locally sourced produce and several Michigan made products and crafts available.
The Reviews Are Great!
From some of the comments and the pictures posted of the donuts they are making, it looks like that building is once again home to some great donuts!
One person on Facebook, Jodi Deems, commented: "Stopped by Saturday. Best doughnut I have ever eaten. Store is beautiful and they have the coolest stuff."
Kathy Train Lull remarked on Facebook: "Parker house rolls are back and they are as good as before."
So while it might not officially be called the "Hilltop Bakery" any longer, it sounds like the great donuts are back!
Now, along with a dozen great donuts -- you can also shop for meat, produce and more!
