Hip-Hop Reacts to Colin Kaepernick’s Nike Just Do It Campaign
Colin Kaepernick has been out of the NFL for nearly two years now but on Sept. 3, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback became the face of Nike's 30th anniversary Just Do It campaign.
According to reports, Kaep's deal with Nike is a "wide endorsement" that will include his own branded apparel and footwear. The former Niners star is also reportedly on a "star" deal on par with the deals top NFL players sign.
While the move to sign Kaepernick has angered many and started a Nike boycott, the hip-hop community is rallying behind the quarterback. "J U S T D O I T 4 K A P," Quavo shared on Instagram along with a closed fist.
2 Chainz also showed his support for Kaepernick, sharing a screenshot of the new Nike campaign and adding a shot at President Donald Trump, "Can't wait to see what the tangerine gone say about @nike this is super legend."
Meek Mill offered his support as well to Nike's new star, writing on Instagram, "Respect time to take things up!"
During the Philadelphia rapper's time behind bars, Kaepernick spoke with Meek and said the two would "continue to fight against the harsh sentencing practices that have affected Meek & millions of other POC for generations." The Wins & Losses artist also donated $10,000 to Kaep's charity.
