Hip-Hop Reacts to New England Patriots Winning 2017 Super Bowl
On Sunday night (Feb. 5), Tom Brady and the New England Patriots shook up the world with their hard-fought, come-from-behind victory over Matt Ryan’s Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Predictably, the Internet has already had a lot to say about the Pats' big W and the Falcons' L—and that group includes more than a few rap game luminaries.
One of those luminaries is Atlanta's own 2 Chainz. Seeing his hometown team lose couldn't have been too pleasant for the lanky MC, but it wasn't the end of the world. The "Birthday Song" rapper described the epic duel between two of the NFL's top teams as being "the best game ever" in a caption for a sideline photo he took with Usher. He's already looking to next year. For his part, T.I. simply gave the Falcons a video shout-out. After all, despite the romanticized all-or-nothing mentalities we usually see in sports movies, getting to the Super Bowl is still an accomplishment in itself.
Outside of Atlanta, the loss didn't seem to hurt quite as much. In fact, a few rappers even gave props to Brady, whose legend will only grow from here. Guys like Tony Yayo and Chief Keef couldn't do anything but admire the quarterback's virtuoso performance and commend him for his fifth Super Bowl win. To congratulate the Patriots general, Yayo simply tweeted a picture of Brady with his several championship rings, along with the caption " The 🐐 Goat Tom Brady." Keef kept it even simpler, tweeting "I need to step my ring game up like Brady!"
As we all know by now, the web is merciless, and in the social media age, fans try to make losing with dignity as hard as possible. Resident rap game comedian 50 Cent is proud to continue this new tradition, throwing some playful bit of shade at the entire ATL on his Instagram account. Never change Fif.
The rap game has pretty much offered their take on the outcome of Super Bowl LI. You can peep hip-hop's reaction to the Patriots' Super Bowl W in our list below.
