If You See A Dog in Michigan Wearing Red Collar, Don’t Approach It!
As a dog lover, I understand the urge to pet or love every dog you see.
When it comes to pets, specifically in Michigan, pet owners do not play about their furry friends.
While I know you want to pet every dog you come across, however, there is a chance you should stay away.
Dog Collar Colors & Their Meanings
While many colorful collars could be simply for aesthetic purposes, experts are warning that if you see a dog with a red leash, red harness, or red bandana, you should not approach that dog at any time.
Before you walk up to a dog, you should know what the colors of leashes and collars mean.
If you do not know the protocol, you can read the full-color code below.
Orange = I like people, but not other dogs.
Green = I enjoy making new friends (both people and other dogs)
Light Yellow = I am nervous so please give me space
Blue - I am learning for work, not play!
Purple = Do not feed me!
White = I am deaf or blind
Bright Yellow = I am looking for a new home (I am up for adoption)
Red = Stop, Give Me Space, Do Not Approach Me
Pets Plus shared a graphic explaining everything you need to know regarding the color of a dog's leash and collar.
Again, this collar and leash color code is something to follow so you can know whether the dog should or should not be encountered.
