Is This Man Battle Creek’s Own Version of Batman?
It's a bird...it's a plane... it's, this Police Officer from Battle Creek, Michigan?
After watching a handful of super hero themed summer blockbusters, it's easy to think you can take to the streets and fight crime yourself. However, it's not very likely you have any super powers.
But, if you know about Batman, you know that doesn't disqualify you from being a hero just because you're lacking in super human abilities. In fact, you could argue that Batman's powers are just the toys and gadgets he buys with his insanely large fortune.
So when responding to disputes recently, one Battle Creek officer took after his favorite big screen hero and became Battle Creek's own version of Batman.
According to a social media post from the Battle Creek Police Department,
The Battle Creek Police Department has been responding to a series of complaints between landowners in the Waubascon Road area, in Bedford Township, since March 2021.
One of the landowners, Justin Schotts, has posted a series of personally-created videos – as many as 65 to date – showing officer and neighbor interactions. During a recent police response, a Battle Creek Police supervisor responded to the call – Sgt. Chad Fickle. In the past, Shotts referred to Fickle as “Batman.” When Fickle responded recently, he wore a Batman mask, attempting to insert humor into the long-standing civil dispute between neighbors.
“As much as we value creative responses in all situations, Sgt. Fickle’s well-intended action was done in poor judgment, and was disappointing [...] As with all police personnel matters, this case was reviewed and addressed.

If you are looking to contact this officer, you may want to skip the bat signal and try 911, because it's not likely he'll be donning this mask again anytime soon.
