Since I've been of drinking age, I've heard Michiganders rave about a magical beer called Yeungling. This elusive brew is NOT sold in the Mitten State... but it might be next year?

The Detroit Free Press reports D.G. Yuengling & Son announced a joint venture with Molson Coors on Tuesday to expand its production and distribution west, beyond its existing 22-state footprint and New England.

According to

The partnership will bring beers from America’s Oldest Brewery to millions more drinkers in 25 states outside its mostly East Coast distribution territory. Brands like Yuengling Traditional Lager, Black & Tan and Flight are expected to reach into new markets in the second half of 2021.

Under the terms of the new deal with Molson, Yuengling beers will be brewed and packaged in select Molson Coors’ breweries under Yuengling brewers’ supervision. So as early as the second part of next year, we could see Yuengling beer in Michigan... but do we know for sure? According to the Detroit Free Press,

A spokesperson for Yuengling did not confirm Tuesday afternoon if the expansion includes Michigan, saying: 'Our focus first and foremost is making sure this partnership is working smoothly so that our brewers are comfortable brewing our products the way they are meant to be made.'

Located in Pottsville Pennsylanvia, D.G. Yuengling & Son was established in 1829.  The brewery has since expanded to include another in Pottsville and one in Tampa, Fla. So are you excited we could be getting Yuengling in Michigan? I'll be honest, I've tried it... and I think it's fine... but like, I kinda don't understand what all the hype is about. I did see some Tweets from folks with similar thoughts that made me chuckle... but what do you think-- is Yuengling awesome? Or is it overrated?
