I remember being in third grade and being confused when I first heard about an IQ score and what it was supposed to mean. I had some instant fear that I wasn't as smart as I thought I was because I had no clue what an IQ score was. In the end, I can say that I was not as smart as I thought I was at the time, but IQ scores can be misleading.

An IQ score is explained as a measure to assess the human intelligence through standardized tests. The test is designed to evaluate the cognitive intelligence and abilities of individuals compared to the average population. There are people all over the world that have great and not so great IQ scores but how does Michigan's average score rank amongst the other states in America?

The average individual IQ score is about 100 but that quickly turns into a range when you are comparing the scores by state. States whose average IQ score falls between 90 and 109 are considered to be average. IQ scores 130 and above are considered very superior for both individuals and states.

Michigan is one of the many states in America that falls among the "average" states when comparing IQ scores. Michigan's average IQ score for the entire state is at 100.5 which is basically right in the middle of that range. Michigan falls just inside the top half of the states as they have the 24th best IQ in the country.
