Lovefood chose two restaurants serving up Michigan's best burgers: Taystee's Burgers in Dearborn and Green Dot Stables in Detroit.
Taystee's Burgers began as a gas station back in 2014 in Dearborn. There are now seven locations with another opening in Clarkston.

Specifically, Lovefood shouts out Taystee's Burgers Ali's Notch-Yo-Burger, and yes it's got actual Doritos on it.
The cheesy, crunchy, spicy creation also includes American, Swiss, pepper jack and nacho cheese, plus bacon, jalapeños, grilled onions, mayo, and hot sauce all piled on a potato bun.

It's definitely not the only creative burger at Taystee's. You'll also find burgers topped with mac and cheese, fried eggs, mozzarella sticks, a variety of cheeses, sauces, and other toppings.
Beef not your thing? Not a problem! You can get any burger as a fried or grilled chicken sandwich too. There's also loaded fries, chicken tenders, fish sandwiches, hot dogs, and burger bowls.
OR, if beef really is your thing, you can double up or triple up on patties. Check out Taystee's Burgers full menu here.
Lovefood's other choice for best Michigan cheeseburger is Green Dot Stables in Detroit - whose history - and equestrian theme - is a bit of a mystery.
According to Eat It Detroit, the current owners took over in 2012. Prior to that though, it sounds like the building was erected in 1970 and the original owner may have also owned stables, which he called Green Dot... but there are other theories. Either way, the horse racing theme remains at Green Dot Stables.
On the menu you'll find 22 different sliders. In particular, Lovefood praises the classic cheeseburger slider, which comes topped with soft cheese, grilled onions, and pickles.
If you're feeling more adventurous, Lovefood also recommends the Korean slider, which comes with kimchi and peanut butter.
Other sliders include Corned Beef, Falafel, Fried Chicken, Cuban, and Gyro.
Green Dot Stables also has a "Mystery Meat" feature that's ever changing. Previous offerings have included goose, chicken thighs, chorizo, and elk steak.
The menu includes fries, soup, salad, and desserts, as well.
