This Restaurant is Serving Michigan’s Best Chicken Sandwich

Chicken sandwiches have been having a moment for a while, what with all the fast food restaurants duking it out in the "chicken sandwich wars".

Outside the chains though, what's your go-to spot for a chicken sando in Michigan?

I'll tell you, my husband, who is a fried chicken sandwich connoisseur absolutely RAVES about the chicken sandwich at 7 Monks in Grand Rapids (they have a location in Traverse City too).  He says the batter is the best and he's obsessed with the pretzel bun.

Well, popular foodie publication Lovefood.com went on a mission to find the top chicken sandwich in each state based on reviews, awards, and the experiences of their team. Grilled or fried, hot or cold, on a roll or in a sub, they say these are the best chicken sandwiches in each state.

The restaurant serving up the best chicken sandwich in Michigan? According to Lovefood, it's Ma Lou's in Ypsilanti.

Specifically they should out the OG which combines fried breast or thigh with Cheddar, smoked Gouda, slaw, and pickles. Their other pick is the Hot Chick, in which the fried chicken is finished with a Nashville hot baste and served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño ranch, and pepper Jack cheese.

Sandwiches aren't all you'll find at Ma Lou's. There's also Smash Burgers, Fried Chicken, Chicken Tenders, Chicken and Waffles, Fried Fish, Wings, and specials like Tacos, Wraps, and Shrimp Po' Boys.

Sides include Onion Rings, Potato Salad, Hush Puppies, Collared Greens, Fries, and Baked Beans.

Ma Lou's is located at 15 W. Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11a.m. to 9p.m. and Sunday 11a.m. to 4p.m.
