Looking to get active outdoors this summer? The City of Grand Rapids is offering a bunch of free outdoor fitness classes!
City of Grand Rapids Offering Free Fitness Classes for 9th Year
Grand Rapids recently announced the 9th year of free fitness in parks and public spaces across the city.
No matter how you want to get moving, there is likely a class for you. More than 15 dance, cardio, and yoga classes will start the week of May 13 and run for 15 weeks.
Classes are Monday through Thursday and you don't have to register in advance. If a class has to be cancelled due to weather, the announcement will be made on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page, or you can call the department’s cancellation hotline at (616) 456-3699.
Schedule of Grand Rapids Free Outdoor Fitness Classes Summer 2024
Instructors will lead a variety of classes at varying fitness levels, including Zumba, Glute Aerobics, Yoga, Line Dancing, and African Dance. The earliest class starts at 6:30a.m. and the latest class starts at 7:00p.m.
Mondays, starting May 13
- Yoga at Mulick Park (1632 Sylvan Ave. SE) from 6-6:45 p.m.
- SoulfulMOTION at Garfield Park (2111 Madison Ave. SE) from 6:30-7:15 p.m.
- Zumba at Rosa Parks Circle (135 Monroe Center St. NW) from 6:30-7:15 p.m.
Tuesdays, starting May 14
- Barre on the Blue Bridge from 5:30-6:15p.m.
- 30 Minute HIIT at Lookout Park (801 Fairview Ave. NE) from 6:15-6:45 p.m.
- Glute Aerobics (555 Monroe Ave. NW) from 6:30-7:15p.m.
- African Dance (555 Monroe Ave. NW) 7:00-7:45p.m.
- Sunset Yoga at Lookout Park (801 Fairview Ave. NE) from 7-7:45 p.m.
Wednesdays, Starting May 15
- Sunrise Yoga at Indian Trails Golf Course (2776 Kalamazoo Ave. SE) from 6:30-7:15 a.m.
- Pumped Up Strength at Cherry Park (725 Cherry St. SE) 6:00pm.-6:45p.m.
- African Dance (555 Monroe) 7:00p.m.-7:45p.m.
- WERQ on the Richmond Park Pool Deck (1101 Richmond St. NW) from 7:15-8 p.m.
Thursdays, Starting May 15
- Yoga at Sixth Street Park (710 Monroe Ave. NW) 12p.m.-12:45p.m.
- POUND on The Blue Bridge from 5:30-6:15 p.m.
- Yoga at MLK Park (900 Fuller Ave. SE) from 6:00p.m.-6:45p.m.
- Line Dancing at Roosevelt Park (1368 Godfrey Ave. SW, Wyoming) 7:15p.m.-8p.m.
