The Menu at Grand Rapids’ Newest Mexican Restaurant May Surprise You
Grand Rapids’ dining scene is on a serious roll lately. Recently, a scratch kitchen serving up seasonal comfort food opened its doors. Plus, a new seafood and fish joint with a massive menu is on the way. Now, a unique restaurant has joined the mix in East Hills.

It is always a bummer to see a local favorite close, and while we were sad to say goodbye to The Green Well last summer, a new spot has officially moved in.
What Took Over the Former Green Well Space?
El Burrito Grill & Bar is now open at 924 Cherry St. SE in Grand Rapids. But if you step inside expecting a standard Mexican joint, prepare to be surprised.
Signs out front note that the new establishment is family- and veteran-owned. They also promise authentic Mexican food, and you will certainly find burritos, chimichangas, fajitas, and tacos on the menu. Keep scanning though, and the lineup shifts into a high-end bistro direction.

A Look at the Unexpected Menu Options
Alongside traditional enchiladas, there is a full "Wood & Fire" steakhouse section featuring a $39 bone-in ribeye and filet mignon served with garlic herb butter. Prefer seafood? You can order lobster bisque packed with real lobster meat, seared crab cakes with remoulade, or pretzel-crusted walleye alongside asparagus and mashed potatoes.

The unexpected options keep coming. The kitchen is also churning out French onion soup topped with puff pastry, baked Brussels sprouts tossed in balsamic onion jam, and chicken pasta alfredo with broccoli. You will even find Faroe Island salmon in a brown butter glaze, a brined bone-in pork chop, smash burgers, and buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches.
Whether you're stopping in for a quick $13 lunch combo or sitting down for a full-blown steak dinner, East Hills’ newest addition is offering a little bit of everything under one roof.
