Going anywhere these days feels like a major gamble. If you're driving, gas prices have eclipsed $4 for the first time in years. Taking a flight? Expect to wait hours as TSA agents remain unpaid a month into a partial government shutdown, leading to staff shortages and more.

In many cases, people's wait just to get into the airport for their flight is longer than their actual flight. When I checked the wait time for this article, it was 5 minutes or less for both the standard and Pre-Check options. However, the airport is advising travelers to arrive at least 2 hours before their flight in anticipation of spring break travel. It's a busy time of year for travel, and TSA's short staffing only makes it busier.

The TSA situation is likely to get worse before it gets better, so before you travel, check this wait time and give yourself plenty of room before your flight. Also, be a good person. TSA workers are stressed enough; don't make their jobs even more difficult.
