Frederik Meijer Gardens is a true West Michigan gem, and locals know why. Between the year-round art and nature exhibits, hundreds of stunning sculptures, and the Summer Concert Series, it’s no wonder this spot has been voted the No. 1 sculpture park in the country multiple times.

Now, one of the park's new traditions is getting national attention once again!

A Nationally Recognized Holiday Experience

In 2024, Meijer Gardens launched Enlighten, an immersive holiday light experience that’s quickly become a must-see. The display made a huge splash right away, taking home the No. 3 spot in the nation in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Poll during its debut year.

Now, Enlighten is competing again as Michigan's sole representative in the category! Panel experts chose their top 20 illuminated gardens across the country, and public voting is officially open to decide the top 10.

Art, Lights, and Music Come Alive

At Enlighten, visitors step into a glowing wonderland. Pathways shimmer, art comes alive with light, and seasonal soundscapes fill the air. It’s a magical mix of art, nature, and festive sparkle that makes even the ordinary feel extraordinary.

This year, you'll be able to experience the holiday magic of Enlighten November 23 through January 10 at Meijer Gardens.

The display goes far beyond standard twinkling bulbs. As you follow the glowing outdoor trail, you will encounter custom light installations and interactive environments inspired by world-renowned artists like Auguste Rodin, Roxy Paine, and Alexander Liberman, all set to festive music.

Along the way, you can stop at the outdoor beer garden for a warm drink, take in the winter waterfall show, or make the evening extra special with themed dining, seasonal cocktails, and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The magic does not stop outside, either. Your admission allows you to follow the illuminated trail indoors into the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory, which is transformed with specialty lighting effects. From there, you can explore the beloved University of Michigan Health–West Christmas and Holiday Traditions exhibition, complete with the famous Railway Garden and more than 40 cultural displays representing holiday traditions from around the world.
