These Were Michigan’s Top Baby Names Of 2025

Finally, after an extended wait, one of my personal pleasures each year has been unveiled. Annually, the Social Security Administration releases the top baby names of the year based on Social Security applications that were filed last year. It's always a treat to see what changes have been made year-to-year, and it gives a bit of insight into what people were thinking and which names are trending.

We've come a long way from 1960, when David and Michael were the top boy names, and Mary and Karen were the most popular girl names in Michigan. None of these names crack the top 10 anymore. Here are the names that you may be hearing quite a bit over the next few years.

Michigan's Top Baby Names of 2025

Nationally, Olivia and Liam have maintained their dominance as the most popular names, with Olivia in first place since 2019 and Liam since 2017, with few overall changes in the top 5 over the last couple of years.
