Food Writers Say This Michigan Pizzeria is Among 27 Best in America
Michigan is once again proving why it is a powerhouse on the national pizza scene. We have tracked plenty of well-deserved hype lately, like when Midwest Living named Michigan & Trumbull in Detroit one of the 12 best spots in the Midwest, or when Chowhound singled it out as the top pie in the state.

We also celebrated when Tasting Table named Supino Pizzeria the No. 1 restaurant in Michigan visited by Guy Fieri, while Food Network gave The Original Buscemi's the crown for Michigan's best pizza.
Now, another gem is stepping into the national spotlight!
USA Today network food writers recently put together a list of just 27 standout pizzerias across the entire country.
Plymouth Pizzeria Named One of Best in America
The only Michigan spot to make the cut is Plymouth’s Pizza e Vino.

Detroit Free Press food writer Lyndsay Green highlighted the restaurant pointing out that it holds a rare title as the only restaurant in metro Detroit with official VPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) certification.

What does that actually mean for your dinner? It means absolute authenticity. Founded in 2010 by former residential builder John Corsi, the downtown Plymouth restaurant was built around bringing true Neapolitan pizza culture to Michigan.
How Pizza e Vino Makes Authentic Neapolitan Pies
To earn and keep that international stamp of approval from Naples, the kitchen follows strict rules. They imported a handcrafted wood-burning volcanic brick oven built in Naples. Burning at a scorching 900 degrees, it blasts hand-stretched pies to crisp, blistered perfection in under 90 seconds.
The ingredients are just as deliberate. Pizza e Vino uses imported Italian tipo 00 flour, an ultra-fine wheat flour that gives Neapolitan crust its light texture, along with authentic D.O.P. San Marzano tomatoes grown in the volcanic soil near Mount Vesuvius.
Pizzas, Small Plates, Salads, Cocktails
USA Today recommends keeping it simple when you order, suggesting classic combinations like soppressata with kalamata olives, classic pepperoni, or the timeless Margherita D.O.P. featuring fior di latte and fresh basil.

You'll also find "pizze bianche", or white pizza—so no tomato sauce. Options include pie creations like the Pistachio (pistachio pesto, fennel sausage, and fior di latte), the Calabria (nduja calabrese sausage, red onion, and hot honey), and the Funghi e Tartufo topped with seasonal mushrooms and white truffle oil.

Beyond pizza, the kitchen serves up small plates like grass-fed beef meatballs and prosciutto-wrapped fresh mozzarella, alongside fresh organic salads paired with wood-fired flatbread. For dessert, you can order house-made tiramisu, cannoli, or a warm Pizzetta Dolce slathered in chocolate-hazelnut spread and toasted almonds.
To wash it all down, the bar crafts Italian spritzes, house Limoncello, and specialty drinks like an Espresso Martini or Pistachio Martini, alongside draft Peroni and a robust Italian wine list.
