Two Grand Rapids Breweries in the Running for Best Beer Bars in the U.S.

UPDATE: City Built Brewing came in at No. 9 in USA Today's poll. Hopcat did not make the top ten.

In addition to Grand Rapids being up (again) for "Best Beer City in America" - two Grand Rapids bars are up for beer-related honors in USA Today and 10Best Reader's Polls.

Grand Rapids' HopCat is in the running for "Best Beer Bar in the U.S."

According to USA Today, each of the 20 finalists:

Offers a stellar selection of draft, bottled, and canned beers, many with a focus on local or regional selections.

Here is their praise for HopCat,

HopCat started in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2008 and has garnered heaps of praise and many awards for its selection of great beer from around the world. Some of the best local, regional, and global craft beers are on 49 taps, and more than 250 bottles expand the offerings. It could be their famous beer-battered Cosmik Fries, but more likely it’s the wide range of beers, passionate bartenders, and a fun atmosphere that make HopCat a top destination for beer aficionados.

City Built Brewing is also up for "Best Brewpub in the U.S."

The people behind City Built Brewing believe that beer can bring people together, especially when the beer list has something for everyone – Mexican lagers and Czech pilsners to sours and IPAs. The food menu features Creole and Cajun flavors with options like Creole beer cheese, Cajun shrimp, and shrimp po'boys.
