
Brave Bystanders Save Woman From Drowning at Michigan Beach
We are so lucky to live in Michigan because there are so many great places to swim and enjoy the water.

While a day at the beach can be really fun, it can also turn dangerous and sometimes even deadly.
The Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project says around 100 people each year drown in Michigan's great lakes, that doesn't include inland beaches or swimming pools.
A West Michigan woman almost lost her life while in the water, but was saved by brave and fast-responding bystanders.

According to the Ludington Police Department on Monday just before noon, a call came in about a possible drowning.
An 18 year old woman from Ada was pulled from the water at Stearns Beach around noon by several friends.
A Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officer, was near that area and was the first on the scene.
Shortly after officers from the Ludington Police Department and a Michigan State Police Trooper.
First responders say when they arrived on the scene the woman was breathing and had a pulse.
After she was stabilized at Corewell Health in Ludington, she was then airlifted to Corewell Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids where she remains in critical but stable condition.

The Ludington Police Department thanked the brave bystanders who helped pull the woman from the water along with giving praise to the village of Paw Paw Police Department Chief Eric Rottman.
He, along with a family member, immediately began CPR on the woman; their actions are believed to have saved her life
