Back in November of 2024, WZZM 13 on your side chief Meteorologist George Lessons retired after spending nearly 45 years in West Michigan.

Jacques served in that position for the past couple of years before making the announcement earlier this month that she would be stepping away from the job she loved so much to focus on something even more important, being present for her newborn baby girl.

WZZM 13 Names Blake Hansen New Chief Meteorologist

Earlier this afternoon, WZZM 13 shared that the station's new chief meteorologist was one of their own, meteorologist Blake Hansen.

Hansen arrived at WZZM 13 back in October 2021 starting out as the weekend morning meteorologist.

Then in December 2024, he moved into the weekday evening meteorologist position, where he's delivered the forecast alongside anchor Juliet Dragos.

WZZM 13 News Director Ashley Talley talked about the search for the stations new Chief Meteorologist.

"We opened a nationwide search for 13 ON YOUR SIDE's next Chief Meteorologist, but the ideal candidate was already here at the station. Blake has lived in Michigan his whole life and understands our weather, from lake-effect snow to springtime pop-up tornadoes and everything in between."

I've watched Blake on TV for years but never got the chance to meet him until recently at the MAB Awards in Detroit.

He was such a nice guy and I'm so excited for him to begin this exciting new chapter in his life and career.
