Here’s The Detroit Lions Difficult Path To The Postseason
Just a few years ago, the Detroit Lions were able to make it all the way to the NFC Championship against the San Francisco 49ers.

Unfortunately they lost the game and missed out on making it to the Super Bowl for the first time in team history.
Fans were optimistic last season because the Lions had an impressive 15-2 record, which is the best in franchise history.

But when they faced the Washington Commanders in the playoffs, they lost the game 45-32.
The way things are going so far this season it appears the Lions might not even have a chance to make it back to the playoffs.
Following the Lions recent loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, the lions have a 7-5 record which has them setting in third place in the NFC North, behind both the 9-3 Chicago Bears and the 8-3-1 Packers.
The Thanksgiving day loss was very damaging because the Packers secured the head-to-head tiebreaker, making Detroit's path to winning the division championship highly unlikely.
The Lions' playoff probability plummeted from 45% to 32% after the loss.
How The Lions Can Make The Playoffs
The Lions' remaining path is difficult, They trail the current Wild Card teams by two games with only five weeks left in the season.
Their schedule is one of the toughest left in the league, with important games against playoff contenders like the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Rams.

To realistically secure a postseason berth, The Lions will likely need to win at least four of their final five games, which includes a tough week 18 road game against the division-leading Bears.
Any more losses would require significant and unlikely help from other teams in the conference to open up a Wild Card slot.
