
Grand Rapids Launching EV CarShare Program
The City of Grand Rapids and MobileGR have announced the rollout of the new DART evCarShare program.
The hopes are that the new pilot program will help to lessen the burden of car ownership and allow residents and visitors alike to access an affordable way to get around town.

And, according to a release, it's very affordable. People will be able to rent these electric vehicles for just $5 per hour.
To start the program, there will be six vehicles available to rent (with six more being added in the second phase). All six vehicles are all-electric Chevy Volts.

Where to Find Dart evCarShare Cars in Grand Rapids
You'll be able to find the vehicles at city parking lots across the city:
- The West Fulton Lot, located at 747 Fulton St. West.
- The Madison Square Lot, located at 436 Umatilla St. SE.
- The Eastown Ethel Lot, located at 420 Ethel Ave. SE.
- The Weston Commerce Ramp, located at 18 Weston St. SW.
- The Government Center Ramp, located at 300 Monroe Ave. NW.
- And the Burton Division Lot, located at 2004 Division Ave. S. (this one will be open before the end of the year.
How Does the DART evCarShare Program in Grand Rapids Work?
To qualify to rent one of these vehicles, you must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license. There is an initial $10 application fee when you set up our account. Once you've created your account, you'll upload a photo of your driver's license and provide a method of payment. Once approved, you'll do a quick 20-minute orientation over the phone, you'll be good to go.

You won't be able to rent the vehicle for days on end—the maximum rental time is 24 hours.
Again, the cost is only $5 per hour (one hour is the minimum). The first 150 miles of your trip are included in the rental cost. After that initial 150 miles, you'll be charged $0.45 per mile.
