Residents of Cedar Springs, get ready. Consumers Energy has announced that there will be a planned power outage in your area this weekend.

According to a release from Consumers Energy, they'll be assisting ITC Michigan with upgrades to equipment in the area. This is being done to "improve electric service for customers in the community."

The work is currently expected to start around 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, and will be finished no later than 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 15.

Consumers says the planned outage will affect approximately 2,700 customers. The affected customers are primarily in the area of 17 Mile Rd. NE.

If your home or business will be affected, you should have received a postcard informing you of the planned work and outage.

They urge folks to sign up for outage alerts so they can receive updates about the planned outage in real-time.
