Detroit Lions Player Cam Sutton Faces Charges Of Domestic Violence

Cam Sutton, an NFL cornerback who currently plays for the Detroit Lions is wanted by authorities in Florida on a warrant for domestic violence by strangulation.

Sutton, who signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Lions in 2023, has not been seen or heard from, but the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department based in Tampa, Florida would like to speak with him.

According to a report by CBS Sports, authorities have been unable to contact Sutton for weeks following an incident that occurred on March 7.

While the police initially said that the warrant was for "Aggravated Battery - Domestic Violence", it has since been updated to Domestic Battery by Strangulation. If convicted of the charge, Sutton faces up to five years in prison.

In a statement Wednesday, the Lions organization said,

We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time.

Sutton allegedly has not returned to his home since the incident allegedly occurred and his phone has been turned off.

Sutton hasn't posted anything on his official Instagram page since Valentine's Day when he posted a hype video for the Detroit Lions.

Sutton played every game for the Lions this season (their best in recent history). In the regular and post-season, Sutton recorded 73 tackles, one forced fumble, and an interception.
