Did You Miss Breonna Taylor’s Mother, Sister & Boyfriend On The Red Table Talk? (VIDEO)
"Tonight, when you get in bed, turn on a movie, and doze off, imagine this: seven police officers bust down your door with a battering ram and shoot your partner six times, leaving her for dead. Let that sink in. Say her name."
Those are the first words that start off this exclusive episode of the Red Table Talk.
Breonna Taylor's mother, Tamika Palmer, her sister Ju'Niyah Palmer, and her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, share the "real story about what happened" on the night Breonna was killed.
Kenneth takes the audience on a minute-by-minute rundown of what happened on that tragic night by using body camera footage.
He starts off by saying that he and Breonna were simply going back to chill and relax.
"That's what makes the situation even more crazy. What place do you feel more safe than in the comfort of your own home?"
With a smile on his face, Kenneth recalls that the two of them were watching the movie, "The Freedom Writers" but she ended up falling asleep in the middle of the movie.
Late into the night, they were both startled awake by banging on the door from the plainclothes police officers from the Louisville Police Department due to a search warrant. As of now, the public knows the warrant was falsified.
In their first interview since the four officers were charged with Breonna's death, Tamika and Ju'Niyah go into shocking details about their devasting loss and the cover-up by the police officers.
In a gut-wrenching moment, Adrienne Banfield-Norris asked "When did you find out that Breonna had passed?"
Breonna's mother Tamika responded with what happened.
It wasn't until about 11:30 am, and mind you, we had been out there since 1 am. A detective comes back over and says, 'it won't be much longer' that we'll be able to get in there, so by this time, I'm pissed. I'm screaming, and I'm like, 'Why won't you tell me where Breonna is? I need to know where Breonna is.
As she fights back tears, Tamika continues on saying the officer looked at her and said "Well ma'am, she's still in the apartment."
I knew what that meant. I knew what it meant. He never said it, but I knew.
This episode was mindblowing and devastating to watch. I strongly suggest being emotionally prepared for all of the important conversations that are had before watching.
In my opinion, it is an extremely necessary episode of Red Talk Table to watch.
It will make you smile, cry, and want to throw things against your wall. But it is a conversation that so many people need to hear.
