The city of Grand Rapids has 15 splash pads located throughout the city.

They're free to the public and open daily from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm during the summer season.

But people aren't the only ones who want to cool off; dogs love getting into the water too. But are they allowed to use the splash pads?"

Can You Bring A Dog To Grand Rapids Splash Pads?

If you want to bring your furry, four-legged friend to a Grand Rapids splash pad, I've got some bad news for you: they're not allowed.

There are several reasons behind this dog ban.

Health Concerns: Splash pads often use recirculated water, and introducing animals can significantly impact water quality and hygiene for humans, especially young children.

Maintenance: Maintaining proper chemical balances and cleanliness in splash pad systems is already a difficult job. Pet waste or fur can clog drains and filtration systems, leading to operational issues and increased maintenance costs.

Safety: While many people love dogs, there are others who are scared of them. Also, sometimes little kids don't know how to play with a dog and could do something that might cause them to be bitten or hurt.

You can see all of Grand Rapids splash pads locations on the city's website.
