It's already been famously said, but it begs to be repeated: Pop Punk Isn't dead, it's just called Hot Mulligan. And that's exactly what the band from Lansing proved to a mostly sold out crowd at Van Andel Arena.

On Tuesday, March 26th Hot Mulligan took the stage in Grand Rapids to open up for Fall Out Boy as they brought their So Much For (2our) Dust Tour to town. While normally at Arena shows it's pretty rare to see people in their seats early, the hometown crowd showed up early and stayed loud throughout the band's entire set.

And for people who love an easter egg- Ryan "Spicy" Malicsi showed a little love for fellow Michigan pop-punk act Fireworks by rocking one of their Detroit themed shirts during their set.

Hot Mulligan had a shorter 30 minute set, but managed to play a ton of the crowd's favorites:

Drink Milk and Run
Shhhh! Golf Is On
Gans Media Retro Games
OG Bule Sky
*Equip Sunglasses*
Shouldn’t Have a Leg Hole but I Do
It's a Family Movie She Hates Her Dad
Bckyrd
John “The Rock” Cena, Can You Smell What the Undertaker

Hot Mulligan wasn't the only act on stage with Michigan roots. Later in the show, Fall Out Boy admitted that "Detroit was one of the first cities outside of Chicago to f*** with our band", and that their first show in the mitten state was in Hamtramck and only had 3 people in attendance. (They've come a long way since then, obviously.)

It's hard to think they weren't also paying homage to Michigan legends KISS with the amount of pyro on stage during their set.

It was an incredible night of rock and roll and good vibes for West Michigan, and if you missed out on this chance to see Hot Mulligan on the big stage, make sure you catch them the next time they're back in Michigan.
