
Michigan Store Owner Pepper Sprayed After Confrontation With Group of Men
A man who used mace during a recent confrontation at a Michigan business is now being charged with one count of unlawful use of a chemical weapon, a two-year misdemeanor if found guilty.

The incident took place on January 6 outside of Zimmerman's Meat Market in Marine City.

The suspect is part of a First Amendment Auditor group that records videos in public.
He was walking along Broadway street with his camera and going from store to store recording whatever he could see from the street.

I'm interested to see if these charges will actually stick for the man that was recording and then sprayed the owner with pepper spray.
While it might be annoying to have someone stick a camera in your face or into your building what the group was doing was legal.
In Michigan it is generally legal to record people in a public place where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy.
This includes filming on public streets, in parks, or at public meetings.
Fox 2 reports that there could be more charges that's according to St. Clair Prosecutor Michael Wendling, who said that the case remains under investigation by the Marine City Police Department.
Wendling added that the victim's medical records will be reviewed and that an aggravated assault charge could be warranted, depending on the findings.
The suspect will return to court in two weeks for a follow-up hearing.
