A Water Contamination Advisory for Michigan beaches means that certain water quality standards have been exceeded, making it potentially unsafe for swimming

A common reason is because of high levels of E. Coli Bacteria.

People that come in contact with E. Coli could experience unpleasant symptoms such as:

  • Stomach cramps
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Skin rashes
  • Respiratory issues

  • Dumont Lake County Park Beach, Allegan County

    CLOSED since June 25 due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
  • Four Mile Beach, Chippewa County
    contamination advisory since June 11 due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
  • Holland Road Beach, St. Clair County
    contamination advisory since June 26 due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
  • St. Clair Shores Memorial Park Beach, Macomb County

These waters are tested regularly by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.
