It seems as if I have written about the postal service raising rates so many times, but here we go again.

It had been hinted that Forever stamps and first class postage might go up, and it looks as if they will.

The U.S. Postal Service had to file a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) that they wanted to increase postal rates on July 13, and that is a week from this coming Sunday.

So, get ready for these price increases according to the LetterStream blog.com.

  • Forever stamps (1‑oz letters, retail): 73¢ → 78¢ (+5¢)
  • Metered letters (1‑oz): 69¢ → 74¢ (+5¢)
  • Domestic postcards: 56¢ → 62¢ (+6¢)
  • International letters/postcards (1‑oz): $1.65 → $1.70 (+5¢)
  • Additional ounce (letters): 28¢ → 29¢ (+1¢)

The United States Postal Service says these price increases are much needed. The postal service is intent on becoming financially independent, and not having to rely on a government subsidy, with their 10-year plan. Also, let's face it, with inflation continuing and transportation costs going up, these costs must be covered to meet the added expense.

👇  BELOW: AMAZING THINGS YOU CANNOT MAIL IN MICHIGAN!  👇

As I wrote in May, there are other price increases at the postal service. All businesses and individuals will find that various shipping services prices have been proposed to increase as well.

There is some good news since certified mail prices were not increased. I'll have to say, at least not this round of price increases.

So, I would think that for us infrequent mailers, I sure would stock up on Forever Stamps before July 13.
