COVID is Back in Michigan! Now What? Vaccination?
Such great news! COVID is back!
Yuck!
COVID will never go away, but it is manageable and now the flu season is close behind, so people are worried about what to do. Can I vaccinate or can I not.
The Flu shot is easy to get, revised each year to hopefully better match what is floating abound out there.
CODID is a different story. There is a new updated vaccine, but there is also so much confusion coming out of Washington, who can get it, who can't, will insurance pay, the questions keep going.
"U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on X that the FDA has authorized the 2025-2026 shots “for those at higher risk,” and ended the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for COVID vaccines. Those EUAs made the vaccine available to everyone ages 6 months and older."
Anyone 65 years of age and older can be vaccinated, but it is very murky and confusing beyond that.
MICHIGAN MAY HAVE BETTER NEWS
Here in Michigan, however, the governor is trying to make it easier for everyone who wants a COVID vaccine to get one.

The Detroit Free Press reported that Governor Gretchen Whitmer just signed an executive directive to identify and remove any barriers, health insurance, Medicaid, etc., that would keep Michiganders from getting a vaccination and make sure it is paid for.
Details are still being worked out but it is clear that with all of the confusion, this is a good step in the right direction for all in Michigan to have the ability to get the vaccine if wanted and not have to jump through so many confusing hoops.
