Prevent a ‘Rodent Rampage’ From Coming Into Your Home in Michigan This Fall
A lot of changes come when the seasons flip in Michigan. We get darker earlier, and won't see light until much later in the morning. It changes the habits of a lot of people, AND animals in Mother Nature.
Especially when it comes to the transition from Summer to Fall, and eventually to winter, the Animal Kingdom is looking to settle down for the colder months, and this could mean your cozy home is a prime target for them to settle in. Get ready for a potential 'Rodent Rampage' because they're coming for you.
Smith's Pest Management is a pest removal company that specializes in rodents and unwanted "roommates." Zachary Smith recently talked about the potential incoming "Rampage" that's coming.
"When the environment becomes too hostile for rodents in the wild, they turn to our homes for food and shelter. Unfortunately, that means an invasion is likely!"
Now that we're getting into colder months, rodents will try to find an easy place to curl up and stay warm. They'll also consider a quick, easy meal in the process.
"These conditions drive rodents to seek out new environments where they can find the resources the need to survive - namely food and water. Your home, with its reliable water supply and food sources, becomes an attractive target."
So while the weather is still relatively good, and the squirrels, mice, rats, and chipmunks are still lovin' live in the wilderness, now's the time to prevent your home from becoming victim to this "Rodent Rampage."
Make sure you have all of your food properly stored, and packaged. Leaving food out in the open in your home is an easy target, and if you make a habit of it, they'll keep returning.
Food stored in thing bag - chips, cereal, etc. - should be secured in harder plastic containers that rodents won't be able to easily chew through.
Keeping your rooms cleaned regularly will also deter rodents from making their way into your home, as well as securing areas outside where they could sneak in.
But sometimes, you can take all the precautions you want, and it still won't keep them all out.
So keep an eye out for the following signs:
- Droppings
- gnaw marks
- nests
- scurrying sounds
- footprints
If you start to experience any of these, then it's time to call pest control. Because the last thing you want is for it to get out of control, and then... the "Rodent Rampage" is on!
