Kellogg’s and Post Cereal Mascots You May Have Forgotten (or Not Even Known About)
For over 100 years, Battle Creek, Michigan has been crankin' out the cereals and the whole country is grateful: Kellogg's and Post definitely lead that pack. And over those years, many cereals have come and gone – most started out in the late 1800s-early 1900s with just the words and description of the cereal on the cover. Then, someone got the bright idea of putting a face on a cereal box: a mascot, so to speak.
The first just happened to be not one, but three mascots: Snap, Crackle, and Pop on Kellogg's Rice Krispies boxes in the early 1930s. That opened the floodgates: from then on, cartoon mascots came and went - some had staying power, many others did not.
