White Famous, a series centered around the personal experiences of Jamie Foxx, has just released its first trailer for the upcoming October premiere.

The show is a co-production between Lionsgate TV and Showtime and is based on Foxx’s time coming up in Hollywood. Former Saturday Night Live star Jay Pharoah will play Floyd Mooney, an upcoming comedian who seeks crossover fame — also known as becoming “white famous.”  Megalyn Echikunwoke (House of Lies) plays Floyd’s ex-girlfriend, Sadie, the love of his life and the mother of his child. Foxx serves as executive producer and stars in a recurring role.  Barbershop director Tim Story also executive produced the show and directed the pilot.

"I came up from stand-up comedy, so to be able to share that aspect of my life on screen with a project like White Famous is incredibly exciting," said Foxx in a recent press release. "We couldn't have found better partners than Showtime Lionsgate and Tom Kapinos to tell this story in the best possible way."

This is Jay Pharoah's first leading role in a television series since he left Saturday Night Live in the summer of 2016 after starring on the NBC series for six seasons.  The comedic actor, who was most famous for his portrayal of President Barack Obama on SNL, expressed in an interview that he was not afraid to refuse doing certain comedic bits like wearing a dress for the 3-decade-running sketch comedy series.  Pharoah said that he was put into an “impression box” where he was asked to do all the black impressions on the show. Since then, the young actor has been featured in projects like the hit animated movie SING and Comedy Central's animated series Legends of Chamberlain Heights.

Showtime's White Famous will premiere at 10 PM ET on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
