When you've won seven Grammy Awards and sold over 90 million records, it's hard for anyone to call you "underappreciated." As the lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin has accomplished both of those aforementioned feats, but his good friend JAY-Z, who was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, says Martin's legacy will be even greater in years to come, comparing the Coldplay frontman to William Shakespeare to make his point.

‘I have been in the industry long enough to know when I’m in the presence of a genius… and Chris Martin is just that," Hov says in a new interview with UK-based Metro News.

"In years to come, Britain will look back at him as a modern day Shakespeare," Jay continues. "He is an incredible recording artist, an incredible songwriter, but where he really comes alive is performing live. If you get the chance to see Coldplay live, do it—you ain’t gonna regret it."

Hov and Martin have been friends for at least the last decade, but the Roc Nation boss says that's got nothing to do with his compliments. Hov and Martin have collabed more than a few times in the past, and his daughter Blue Ivy Carter appeared on Coldplay's 2015 album, A Head Full of Dreams.
