Jay-Z Drops “Legacy,” “Marcy Me” and “Smile” Videos
After a lull in the action, JAY-Z is back on a video-dropping spree. This time, we get three-in-one as he rolls out visuals for “Legacy,” “Marcy Me” and “Smile,” off his latest album, 4:44.
Jigga keeps the serious film vibe going on all three visuals. "Legacy," directed by Jeymes Samuel, stars Ron Perlman, Jesse Williams, Emile Hirsch, Edi Gathegi, Kwame Boateng and Jonathan Tucker. It takes place in a prison setting and is meant to be a deeper look into the institution.
On "Marcy Me," police helicopters descend upon the Brooklyn project for a surprising outcome. The video for "Smile," the song where Hov reveals his mother is a lesbian, plays on that very theme and appears to be set in the 1970s.
It looks like Jigga is back on pace to put out a visual for every song on the album, after previously releasing videos for “The Story of O.J.,” “4:44,” “Bam” featuring Damian Marley, “Kill Jay Z,” “Adnis” starring Mahershala Ali and Danny Glover, "Moonlight" and "MaNyfaCedGod" starring Lupita Nyong'o.
In other Jigga-related news, Hov's 4:44 Tour recently stopped in Toronto where the rapper shouted out Drake and Kardinal Offishall. To add to the hometown flavor, he also rapped over Drizzy's "Know Yourself," which made the crowd go nuts.
The 4:44 Tour kicked off on Oct. 27, and is rolling along with plenty of shows still left. Jay comes home to Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sunday (Nov. 26), and performs at the Barclay's Center. After that, he still has shows left in Washington D.C., Chicago, Vancouver, Seattle, Wash., Oakland, Calif., and more, before closing out in Los Angeles four days before Christmas.
