Jay Z Set to Make Both Film and Documentary About Trayvon Martin
Jay Z has received critical acclaim for his work with Harvey Weinstein and the team on their 6-episode docu-series covering the tragic story of Kalief Browder, and now he's taking on the story of another casualty of the justice system, Trayvon Martin.
The Florida teenager was tragically shot and killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman in 2012, who was later acquitted of all charges in a controversial court case. Jay and The Weinstein Company will produce the late teen's story in an upcoming documentary and feature film about his case.
The two films are reportedly based on the books Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice And Why We Continue to Repeat It, as well as Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin. Jay Z and Weinstein have reportedly acquired the rights to both books.
There's no word as of yet on when the documentary or film will arrive.
