JAY-Z Wants No Part of Roc Nation Logo Lawsuit

JAY-Z is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Iconix Brand Group who have filed lawsuit against him and Roc Nation for using the company’s logo on Major League Baseball merchandise back in May.

As we previously reported, Iconix purchased the Roc Nation trademark for $204 million in 2004, and therefore controls the rights to all merchandise with the logo. Iconix also owns the Ed Hardy, Joe Boxer and Marc Ecko logos as well.

But Iconix hit Hov and Roc Nation with a lawsuit in May after the logo appeared on some MLB merch. However, JAY recently filed court documents asking the judge to remove him from the lawsuit, reports TMZ.

According to documents, Roc Nation and JAY-Z are two separate businesses, and the rap mogul doesn’t have any say in Roc Nation deals. So therefore, JAY feels he should be excluded from the lawsuit.

Iconix is seeking at least $10 million in damages and named the MLB, New Era, Lids and the San Francisco Giants in their complaint.

Attorneys for JAY-Z and Roc Nation had no comment on the matter.
