Jonny B’z in Eastown to Close, Reopen as New Restaurant
After nine years, Eastown's Jonny B'z, known for its hot dogs, is closing at the end of September.
According to a Facebook post, the restaurant's last day in business will be September 30th.
The owners have partnered with with All In Hospitality Group, which owns The Winchester, Donkey - Taqueria, and Hancock Grand Rapids, and will reopen with a new restaurant concept.
The new restaurant is called Royals and will open in December 2019. They'll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and keeping many of the current burger and hotdog favorites, plus expanding on the vegan and vegetarian options.
MLive reports that the concept for Royals came discussions about changes to Jonny B'z layout and appearance.
Paul Lee, part owner of All In Hospitality Group, told MLive, “As we kind of thought about it more and more, we couldn’t think of any restaurant that has survived three changes and still been the same restaurant. So, we looked at the opportunity to make this a new restaurant.”
Jonny B’z originally opened at 638 Wealthy St. SE, and in 2016 moved to bigger space at a 701 Wealthy St. SE.
