In 2014 Sophia Putney-Wilcox of Kalamazoo survived an attack from her ex-boyfriend.

On Saturday, the 19-year-old's story will be featured on CBS' 48 Hours, in a program called Live to Tell: Sophia's Secret, MLive reports.

On Sept 15, 2014, Putney-Wilcox's ex-boyfriend, Adam Shigwadja, then 19, broke into Putney-Wilcox's residence and laid in wait until she got home. When she arrived, he attacked her with a knife and held her in her bedroom and set it on fire.

Putney-Wilcox's mother and brother were able to break into her bedroom and chase Shigwadja out of the house.

According to MLive, in September 2015 Shigwadja was sentenced as a second-time habitual offender to at least 29 years in prison for first-degree home invasion, second-degree arson, and assault with intent to commit great bodily harm.

The episode airs on CBS at 9p.m. on Saturday. A preview is above.
