Kendrick Lamar is having a phenomenal year so far and it keeps getting better and better. His fourth studio album Damn. has been certified platinum, according to Interscope Records.

Damn. was released on April 14 and had the biggest first-week sales total of any album so far in 2017. The collection moved 603,000 equivalent album units during its premiere week and 200,000 additional copies in the second week. Lamar’s Damn. is expected to spend a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

This will be the TDE rapper’s third platinum album in his career, following his previous 1 million unit-sellers good kid, M.A.A.d city (2012) and To Pimp a Butterfly (2015). Not only is Lamar making moves on the album chart, his single, "Humble," is still in the top five on the Hot 100 Songs chart. Currently, it sits at No. 3 on the tally, along with "DNA" at No. 7. Not to mention that every song on the album is on the chart as well.

Speaking of "DNA," the song's producer, Mike WiLL Made-It, gave a detail account of how he produced the most abrasive track on the album to Buzz Feed. “I just felt like what Kendrick was rapping was like some ganja, like some piff,” said Mike WiLL Made-It. “I wanted it to sound like somebody's right there standing next to him, in his ear just screaming at him, like, ‘Gimme some ganja! Gimme some more bars! Go harder!'”
