Beloved Northern Michigan Little Blue House May be the Most Perfect Home on All the Great Lakes
Sitting on Michigan's northern shore along Lake Superior at Little Girls Point, the Blue House, or Oman House, is a landmark for many who grew up around or visit Ironwood, on the far western end of the Upper Peninsula.
Located across a stream from Little Girls Point County Park, the home sits on a spit of land between Oman Creek and Lake Superior
Area artist Joseph Bravatto shared a painting of the home which perfectly positions the home's lakefront coziness.
He explains that the home
has been generations of the same family in that house. It at one time was a little store selling agates, ice cream etc. It is a landmark of little girls point
Copies of the print were offered for sale on the Ironwood, Michigan Facebook group where many shared their memories of the home.
I loved the ice cream and rock shop!!! It was a highlight when My Family brought me out!!! I would love a copy of this painting!
Iconic!
So many childhood memories attached to the little blue house.
Love to live there
Little Girls Point is 18 miles north of Ironwood and just 5 miles east of the Montreal River which marks the Michigan/Wisconsin border. The beach at the Point is best known by rockhounds for agate hunting.

But if you dream about living at Little Girls Point, that blue house will likely remain an arm's length away to be loved from across the creek.
