We recently told you that Eastern Kille Distillery is planning to open a new location at 634 Wealthy St. SE, next to Rowster Coffee.

Wood TV 8 reports that Long Road Distillers is also planning expand to the East Hills neighborhood! The Grand Rapids' based spirits maker is looking open a tasting room at 959 Cherry Street SE next to the store Gemini Handmade.

Long Road co-owner Kyle Van Strien tells Wood TV 8,

It’s a great neighborhood, we’ve always loved that district. (It has) lots of other businesses that we’re friends with and it’s on the other side of town from where our … (original) location is.

Long Road's original location opened at 537 Leonard S. NW  in 2015. Since then, the business has opened tasting rooms in Grand Haven, Charlevoix, and Cadillac - and won numerous awards for its spirits.

According to Wood TV 8, Long Road plans to announce the name of the new bar next week. In addition to hand-crafted cocktails, customers can also purchase bottled spirits and canned cocktails to take home.

The new location is currently under construction. It will seat about 35 people inside and 45 outside on a partially covered patio. If all goes as planned, and the necessary licensing is approved, Long Road Distillers' new tasting room in southeast Grand Rapids could open by May.

The Grand Rapids City Commission will be considering proposals for both Eastern Kille's and Long Road's new tasting rooms at its next meeting Feb. 10.
