Longtime Grand Rapids Mexican Restaurant Closing One of its Locations

A longtime, family-owned, Mexican restaurant in Grand Rapids has announced it is permanently closing one of its three locations.

For more than 50 years, Adobe In & Out has been serving "a taste of Mexico with American flair" in West Michigan - it's a Grand Rapids institution! So I'm sad to share that their location on Leonard St. is shutting down.

The owners shared to Facebook,

We have made the hard decision to permanently close the 1216 Leonard St. Adobe location. We feel very fortunate for all the support throughout the pandemic and long before, but due to staffing shortages we can no longer keep this location in operation.

 

The Leonard St. Adobe has been in operation since 2004 and we would like to thank everyone who have made this location a success throughout the years. We are excited to continue serving West Michigan from our 617 W. Fulton St. and 4410 Chicago Dr. stores.

They say they are hiring at their remaining locations in GR on Fulton and on Chicago Drive in Grandville. Anyone interested in applying can do so here.

One of the first Mexican restaurants in Grand Rapids, Adobe In & Out opened on West Fulton Street and Seward Avenue in 1969.

As a diner at Adobe In & Out, I'd say that aside from the yummy food (tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and my favorite - chips and dip) what's awesome about Adobe is the drive-thru! I'll miss the location on Leonard, but I'm glad we still have the remaining two restaurants. If you've never hit up Adobe, you can check out their menu here.
