Concerts have been back to full swing this summer at Van Andel arena, but for many people in Grand Rapids one of the last concerts they saw before the pandemic shut down venues across America, was The Lumineers at Van Andel Arena in January 2020.

So this return to grace was not only a chance for a second encore of their latest album, it was also a welcome back to being together for The Lumineers and their fans. On Friday, July 8th we welcomed back The Lumineers to the stage at Van Andel Arena.

The stage show was electric, with the band playing three huge hits back to back to kick things off. The Lumineers started on a catwalk that ran between the two pit access areas, giving people in any part of the arena the ability to see them clearly as they belted out favorites such as "Ho Hey".

One of the most special moments of the show was right before they played their latest single "Where We Are", lead singer Wesley Schultz spoke with the audience and said that he too, had a tough time over the last two years, and that he was happy to be back with not only fans in Grand Rapids, but fans everywhere as we all finally get to return to music.

He then shared the inspiration for the song, saying like the past two years, right before everything he and his wife had been in a car accident that left him realizing that even when things don't go well, you always have each other, and quoted the lyric "I don't know where we are, but we'll be okay" and invited the audience to join in.

The setlist was fantastic, and very similar to the first leg of the tour:

Brightside
Cleopatra
Ho Hey
Angela
A.M. Radio
Dead Sea
Flowers in Your Hair
My Cell
Slow It Down
Charlie Boy
Never Really Mine

If you have the opportunity to catch them going forward, I highly recommend it. And a big thank you to The Lumineers for picking Grand Rapids for the grand debut of their latest tour.
