The legendary MC Method Man will have his hand in a televised rap battle series called Drop The Mic.

If you're going to have a TV show based on entertainers from all over competing in a rap battle, it’s only fitting that you get one of the most well respected MCs to host it. The Staten Island native will stand alongside model Hailey Baldwin to host Drop The Mic, a spinoff of other popular shows such as Carpool Karaoke. The TV series was created by James Corden, Ben Winston, Jensen Karp and Ed Thomas.

Airing May 2 on TBS, both Meth and Hailey will take the stage to put four celebs from all forms of entertainment up against each other, and in the end, only one celeb will remain standing with help from the audience. Michael Bloom, SVP of Unscripted Series and Special Event Programming at TBS, gave a statement about the forthcoming show and what he hopes his host can bring to the table.

Drop the Mic is a funny, authentic, high-energy series that brings together hip-hop, comedy and pop culture in a way we’ve never seen before,” Bloom said. “Method, Hailey, James, Ben and their team will make sure our celebrity competitors bring their ‘A’ game to the stage.”

Aside from being a part of a televised rap show, Method Man has also been in the studio himself since the year started. Back in January, he teamed up with Max B, Dave East, Joe Young and Hanz for the “Eviction” record. Just recently, the Mount Kushmore Wellness Retreat Tour was announced where Meth will be joining his partner in crime Redman along with Snoop Dogg, Lil Uzi Vert, Flatbush Zombies and more. The tour is set to kick off next month in Seattle.
